Job Summary:

The Family Liaison Officer will provide critical support to families accompanying workers from the Pacific and Timor-Leste, ensuring a smooth transition to life in Australia. This role requires a strong understanding of case management frameworks, critical incident management, and experience working with diverse stakeholders, including children.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Build relationships with Approved Employers, regional relationship managers, essential service providers, Country Liaison Officers, and local councils to ensure families receive timely support.
  2. Connect families with the Department of Home Affairs Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) program and other relevant migrant settlement resources.
  3. Establish relationships with accompanying families, providing key support and a point of contact for families after arrival in Australia.
  4. Monitor and record issues affecting families and children, identifying common issues and working to address them proactively.
  5. Work with the PLF Quality, Learning & Performance Team to gather and record information relevant to the Family Accompaniment pilot's Monitoring & Evaluation framework.
  6. Deliver briefings to families on arrival and support them as they prepare to return home.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, human services, social/behavioural sciences, community services, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in case management, with background or experience in working in migrant settlement, family support programs, or services an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case management frameworks and critical incident management.
  • Excellent people-to-people skills, with experience managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including children.
  • Current working with children and young people Blue Card (or equivalent) as the work includes close contact with children.
  • Experience in data collection and database management.
  • Experience of working in or with Pasifika communities a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of one or more Pasifika languages is an advantage.
