Help Individuals in Remote Communities as a Mental Health Specialist

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of rural communities. We're seeking skilled mental health professionals to join our team.

You will be working closely with internal teams and local services to deliver accessible, coordinated mental health support. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Delivering evidence-based mental health interventions and managing a full client caseload, including intake, assessment, and care coordination.
  • Monitoring and managing clinical risk in consultation with supervisors and participating in regular clinical supervision.
  • Traveling regularly to isolated communities to provide in-person support and referring clients within the stepped care framework.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to support client outcomes and promoting the service through community engagement.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records, upholding confidentiality, and contributing to quality improvement and governance activities.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Mental Health Social Work, Psychology (generalist or clinical), or Credentialled Mental Health Nursing.
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience supporting individuals across all age groups in mental health settings.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and care planning, with a deep understanding of challenges faced by rural and remote communities.
  • Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
