Regional Purchasing Manager Position

\

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Regional Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement efforts in the Eastern Region of our business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to minimize total cost of ownership, improve service quality, and enhance supplier performance.

\Key Responsibilities:\

  • Develop and implement regional procurement strategies to meet operational needs while delivering long-term cost reduction and risk minimization.\
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities for regionally sourced goods and services, initiate, develop, and negotiate supplier agreements, and analyze market trends.\
  • Analyze market trends, develop category knowledge, manage strategic procurement projects with a cross-functional impact, and oversee supplier performance.\
  • Build new supplier relationships, develop alternative sources and solutions, ensure alignment and compliance with national and global procurement strategies, and provide guidance on procurement matters to operations.\
  • Manage complex procurement projects, identify opportunities, drive process change, and overcome resistance in complex environments.\
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives and ensure that sourcing solutions meet local operational needs.\
  • Oversee supplier performance, quality, customer support, and price management, ensuring that suppliers meet contractual obligations.\
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with supplier performance and contract compliance.\
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the procurement team.\
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.\
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.\
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve procurement processes and outcomes.\
  • Provide regular reporting and insights on procurement performance to inform business decisions.\
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to drive business growth and profitability.\
  • Develop and execute comprehensive procurement plans, aligning with business objectives and goals.\
  • Continuously evaluate and refine procurement processes and procedures to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.\
  • Drive innovation and digital transformation in procurement, leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.\
  • Lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.\
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing expert advice on procurement matters.\
  • Support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the procurement function.\
  • Contribute to the development of procurement professionals through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing.\
  • Represent the organization at industry events and conferences, promoting thought leadership and expertise.\
  • Stay current with industry developments, best practices, and emerging trends, applying this knowledge to improve procurement performance.\
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and process efficiency.\
  • Partner with finance and other business functions to drive financial planning and budgeting processes.\
  • Develop and implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential threats to the organization.\
  • Implement sustainable and responsible procurement practices, ensuring that suppliers adhere to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.\
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and resolving disputes as needed.\
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute procurement activities to meet business requirements, including procurement planning, supplier selection, and contract management.\
  • Manage procurement budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis, ensuring accurate financial reporting and transparent decision-making.\
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior leaders, operations teams, and suppliers, to build trust and foster collaboration.\
  • Embody and promote organizational values, such as integrity, accountability, and respect, in all interactions.\
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by senior leaders.\

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Procurement or Operations in an industrial or manufacturing setting.\
  • Experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.\
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis, market benchmarking, and decision-making.\
  • Ability to identify opportunities, drive process change, and overcome resistance in complex environments.\
  • Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba).\
  • Willingness to travel within NSW and ACT.\
  • University degree in engineering or business administration (preferred).\
  • CIPSA student or full membership is preferred.\
