About the Role

Connected People is seeking a dedicated Governance Officer to support the governance functions of our leading corporation in Newcastle. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with the Governance Manager to provide high-level support for Council and Committees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Governance Advice: Provide operational support and guidance on governance matters, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and best practices. Assist in the development and review of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Committee Support: Manage scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute-taking for Council, committees, and other working groups. Ensure timely communication of decisions and actions.
  • Policy and Procedure: Support the development and maintenance of governance processes, ensuring they meet best practice standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of meeting papers, agendas, minutes, and associated documentation in line with our organisation's records management framework.
  • Elections: Manage elections, including arranging ballots and ensuring adherence to legislation and procedures.
  • Training: Identify training needs and support the development of governance training resources and programs.
Position Requirements
