Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high-performing team of network engineers on scaling backbone capacity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams involved in fiber delivery and optical line system deployments.
  • Ensure that backbone capacity design, management, implementation, and deployment operations are sound and executed at scale.
  • Promote operational excellence through change control, automation, innovation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Focus on optimizing operations and processes using relevant data, metrics, and dashboarding techniques.
  • Communicate closely with stakeholders on backbone capacity delivery operations, planning, and initiatives.

Operational Excellence:

As a manager within the Networking organization, you will be expected to drive operational excellence in all aspects of our work. This includes creating efficient processes and procedures to improve productivity in our day-to-day tasks and projects.

Technical Leadership:

As a manager of a highly technical team, you will be expected to possess a deep understanding of your area of expertise. You will review and approve network changes for your team and occasionally develop a detailed, low-level understanding of network issues to represent them at operational management review meetings.

Goal Setting and Delivery:

You will directly own defining or refining strategic goals for your team. As part of this responsibility, you will communicate goals to the team, align necessary resources, and communicate status to the leadership team.

Performance Management/Team Health:

You will oversee all facets of performance and career management for the team. Regular one-on-one meetings with team members are required. You will provide technical and soft skills mentoring to maintain a well-rounded organization. This includes project management, quality audits, and coordination of training sessions with senior-level engineers, as well as day-to-day oversight of the team including scheduling of an 8x7x365 operational rotation.

Recruiting and Hiring: Automation:

You will be heavily involved in developing automation solutions, as well as setting the roadmap for sister automation teams based on analyzing and identifying significant opportunities where automation can tackle volume, systemic, or critical operational issues.
