About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Buyer for our Rolling Stock Sourcing team to join forces with our existing team, building the foundations for a pivotal rail project in Victoria.

This role is based at our manufacturing site in Ballarat and is responsible for managing daily activities involving supplier development, RFQ management, supplier and contract negotiations and business award conclusion with Quality, Cost, Delivery and Safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage specific supplier panel relationships including negotiation and agreements on performance
  • Participate in commodity strategy and panel elaboration
  • Support Commodity Managers in tender phases
  • Represent commodities towards projects, platforms and solutions.
  • Prepare and launch Request For Quotations with suppliers using standard tools
  • Monitor sourcing project QCDT & legal project evolution (FAI, Business Award, Product development)

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience with purchasing and/or procurement processes
  • Highly proficient user of SAP
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling connections with stakeholders, suppliers and colleagues
  • Knowledge of fasteners, chemicals, glue or similar commodities desirable
