Job Title: Puppy Development Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Puppy Development Specialist.

The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, supervising and training volunteer puppy carers in the early upbringing of our dogs. This role is crucial in ensuring a consistent supply of temperamentally sound, socially acceptable, well-prepared puppies which increases the likelihood of successful graduation as a Seeing Eye Dog later in life.

  • Recruit, supervise and train volunteer puppy carers in the early upbringing of our dogs
  • Monitor and maintain accurate, up-to-date training and health records for the puppies in accordance with IGDF standards and relevant legislation
  • Attend promotional events as requested by Marketing & Fundraising
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with new research and best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • International Guide Dog Federation Trainer or Instructor qualification;
  • Puppy development experience or similar role;
  • Ability to work with volunteers from diverse backgrounds;
  • Experience in providing training in an adult learning environment;
  • Practical application of dog training techniques and a solid understanding of canine learning principles;
  • Understanding of the dog maturation process;
