Job Title: Corporate Legal Advisor

The Department of Premier and Cabinet is seeking a highly skilled and experienced corporate legal advisor to join its team.

About the Role:

We are looking for an individual with strong technical, legal and conceptual skills to provide strategic, risk-based legal advice to various DPC portfolios and agencies in their corporate related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering legal advice in an in-house environment on contractual, tendering, procurement and negotiation issues, employment matters, grants making and agreements, intellectual property and brand protection, property law and transactions at the centre of government.
  • Providing technically excellent and strategically focused legal advice on commercial contracting and other corporate issues.
  • Leading and assisting with the preparation of briefs and correspondence on significant legal and legal policy issues.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Managing competing priorities and delivering results based on incomplete or ambiguous information, under pressure.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer and eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deliver results based on incomplete or ambiguous information, under pressure.
