Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement responsible sourcing strategies in alignment with company values, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct due diligence and risk assessments on suppliers and regions; monitor compliance with the company's Code of Conduct, labour standards, and international human rights guidelines.
- Lead efforts to map and monitor supply chains to improve traceability of raw materials, particularly for high-risk commodities (e.g., cotton, leather, wool).
- Implement digital traceability tools and collaborate with third-party platforms or certifications to verify and report supply chain data.
- Manage social and environmental audits across the supplier base; analyse results and lead corrective action planning where needed.
- Coordinate with third-party auditors, NGOs, and industry bodies to stay ahead of compliance trends and regulatory changes (e.g., EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant laws, such as the Australian Modern Slavery Act and UFLPA.
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards on ethical sourcing KPIs and traceability progress for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the company's sustainability reporting, including ESG disclosures, certifications, and impact assessments.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in responsible sourcing, sustainability, or ethical trade within the fashion or retail sector.
- Strong knowledge of social compliance standards and labour rights (e.g., SA8000, SMETA, WRAP, ILO conventions).
- Experience managing social and environmental audits and corrective action plans.
- Familiarity with local and international regulations and frameworks (e.g. Modern Slavery Acts, UFLPA, EU CSDDD).
- Experience with supply chain traceability tools (e.g., TrusTrace, TextileGenesis, Sourcemap) and sustainability certifications (e.g., GOTS, FSC, Leather Working Group).
- Knowledge of traceability and chain-of-custody certification schemes (e.g., GOTS, FSC, Leather Working Group).
- Understanding of sustainable materials and responsible sourcing standards (e.g., RWS, GRS, Oeko-Tex).
- Experience with assessing raw material origin risks and engaging suppliers on sustainable alternatives.
- Experience producing internal reports and external disclosures related to responsible sourcing.
- Ability to gather, analyse, and interpret sourcing and compliance data.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with suppliers, internal teams (design, sourcing, logistics), and external partners (NGOs, auditors, platforms).
- Analytical mindset to assess sourcing risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
