Forensic Disability Specialist

The Community Forensic Mental Health Service requires a skilled professional to support individuals with cognitive disabilities within the criminal justice system.

About the Role
  • Specialist assessment and intervention will be provided for individuals in the criminal justice system.
  • A multidisciplinary team will be worked with, contributing to care planning and continuity of service.
  • Consultation and advice will be offered to those within the team and to service providers across health, justice, and community sectors.
  • Support will be given by providing information on the NDIS and helping navigate access pathways.
Essential Skills
  • Experience is required in assessment, care coordination, and intervention for individuals with intellectual/learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries and comorbidities.
  • Skills are needed in working across multiple service systems (health, justice, and community).
  • An excellent communicator is required with strong report-writing and documentation skills.
  • A commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally responsive practice is necessary.
