Head of Biodiversity Science

The Australian Biological Resources Study team focuses on advancing our understanding of Australia's unique biodiversity and supporting its conservation.
As a senior conservation professional, you will oversee the operations of the team, including supervising staff, planning projects, and overseeing contracts to deliver outcomes. You will also develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, build the capacity of the team, and contribute to strategic goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and prioritizing conservation strategies
- Leading research in areas such as climate change adaptation and nature positive
- Providing scientific support for Protected Areas policy and Park Management Plans
- Managing national collections of biological data and conserving and protecting plants through systematics research and ex situ conservation
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in effectively managing diverse teams and delivering projects. They will also have expertise in taxonomic science and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Requirements include a postgraduate qualification in a relevant biological science field and experience in conservation management.
