We are at the forefront of shaping Australia's unique natural and cultural heritage. As part of our Parks Australia Division, you will work in a cross-disciplinary team to facilitate applied research that informs the management of Australia's Commonwealth parks and gardens.

Our primary objective is to showcase these wonders to the world, demonstrating why they are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future.

The following areas will be pivotal to our success:

  • Strategic planning for science initiatives within Parks Australia
  • Leading research in climate change adaptation and nature-positive outcomes
  • Providing scientific support for protected areas policy and park management plans
  • Managing the Australian National Botanic Gardens
  • Facilitating research capacity building and education
  • Curation of national biological data collections and ex situ conservation

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be instrumental in shaping the identity and work of the section. We aim to foster innovative, cross-disciplinary research to inform management decisions for the Commonwealth parks and gardens, achieving outcomes for conservation and community.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
