Job Role Overview

The Peer Support Specialist is a pivotal role within our organization, designed to support individuals with psychiatric disabilities who have interacted with the criminal justice system.

The primary objective of this position is to provide continuous assistance to help clients avoid re-arrest and incarceration.

  • Develop personalized reentry plans for clients before their release from jail, ensuring a smooth transition back into the community.
  • Offer one-on-one support services to referrals from mental health courts, probation, forensic liaison, and shelters.

This crucial role involves fostering a supportive environment that promotes self-determination, overall well-being, and recovery tenets among persons served.

Key qualifications include:

  • A valid peer support certification
  • A valid Ohio driver's license with fewer than six points

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
