Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory and Technical Support Specialist to provide high-quality technical support and animal care.

The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining disease-free animal facilities, supporting research and teaching needs, and ensuring compliance with safety, hygiene, and welfare standards.

  • Deliver daily animal husbandry with care and attention, ensuring the health and welfare of genetically modified mice.
  • Support researchers and students by delivering reliable technical assistance in line with procedures and standards.
  • Keep our facilities safe, clean, and fully operational through effective maintenance, sterilisation, and waste management.
  • Contribute to a positive safety culture by enhancing standard operating procedures, reporting hazards, and ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Animal Husbandry: Deliver daily animal care and husbandry services to ensure the health and welfare of genetically modified mice.
  • Technical Support: Provide reliable technical assistance to researchers and students, ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and fully operational environment through effective maintenance, sterilisation, and waste management practices.
  • Safety Culture: Contribute to a positive safety culture by identifying and reporting hazards, and ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g. animal science, biology, veterinary medicine).
  • Experience in animal care and husbandry, preferably in a research setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
