Job Title: Strategic Engagement Leader

The role of the Strategic Engagement Leader plays a pivotal part in developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to engage with key stakeholders. This includes government entities, regulatory bodies, community groups, media, industry associations, and shareholders.

This position is crucial in fostering positive relationships, ensuring transparency, and promoting strategic priorities and reputation in the power generation and coal mining sector. The leader will provide strategic advice to senior leadership on stakeholder engagement and public perception to support the achievement of business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

- Develop and execute a strategic stakeholder engagement plan that aligns with business objectives, focusing on government, industry, community, and media relations.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local government officials, regulators, and industry associations to influence policy, regulatory outcomes, and advocate for interests.

- Lead community engagement initiatives to foster positive relations with local communities, ensuring effective communication about operations, project developments, and sustainability efforts.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries, concerns, and feedback.

- Provide strategic counsel and support to senior leadership on communication matters, including crisis management and reputation enhancement.

Government and Regulatory Affairs

- Monitor and analyze policy developments, legislative changes, and regulatory trends that impact operations and the broader energy sector.

- Develop and advocate for policy positions that align with strategic objectives and support a sustainable, competitive energy market in Australia.

- Represent the company in consultations, industry forums, and public hearings, effectively communicating the company's position on key issues.

Corporate Communications and Media Relations

- Lead the development and execution of the company's communication strategy through close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

- Manage media relations, acting as a spokesperson when required, and coordinate press releases, media briefings, and crisis communication responses.

- Develop and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies to ensure alignment with organisational objectives and promote a culture of transparency and engagement.

Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

- Drive the company's community relations program, ensuring meaningful engagement with local communities impacted by operations, including coal mining activities.

- Oversee the planning and delivery of CSR initiatives, focusing on environmental stewardship, social investment, and local economic development.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure community concerns are addressed and integrated into operational planning and decision-making processes.

Ideal Candidate:

- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations or Public Policy, Political Science or related field.

- Substantial demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, relationship building, networking, and communication in complex environments.

- Extensive experience in written and verbal communication across multiple levels of internal and external stakeholders.

- Extensive experience in developing broad stakeholder engagement strategies in politically sensitive environments.
