About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at PEXA, a leading provider of digital property exchange solutions. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing our modern data stack and ELT pattern, with a focus on a cloud data warehouse.

Your key responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines that support various business needs, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data pipeline, and collaborating with data analysts, data scientists, and other data professionals to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions.

Key Accountabilities
  • Design and develop data models and pipelines using cloud-based tools.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data pipeline.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other data professionals to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
  • Apply a consultative approach to understand business problems and provide effective data solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including experience with Snowflake or a cloud data warehouse.
  • Understanding of ELT patterns and modern data engineering practices.
  • Strong technical expertise in SQL and other programming languages such as T-SQL, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with one or more ETL tools and technologies, such as Airflow, Airbyte, Fivetran, or DBT.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Automated data testing.
  • Experience working in a consultative role, understanding business problems and providing effective data solutions.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data security, and privacy regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Expertise in database design, performance tuning, and security.
  • Expertise with Agile methodology and projects.
  • Expertise in JIRA, Scrum boards, and creating user stories and dashboards in JIRA.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex data-related issues.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective interactions with diverse teams and stakeholders.
