About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef Manager to join our team at Bupa Waratah in Newcastle. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading a high-functioning kitchen and catering service, providing quality, well-presented, and nutritious meals that meet resident dining preferences and needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run an efficient and high-quality dining and catering service for residents.
  • Collaborate with the Lifestyle team to ensure all activities and events are appropriately planned and catered for.
  • Ensure specialist resident dietary requirements are met.
  • Prepare main dishes for lunch and dinner.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Manage safe and correct processes in food purchasing, storage, handling, and preparation.
  • Implement infection control principles and practices.
  • Complete paperwork promptly and correctly.
  • Identify training needs and requirements of Catering Staff.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
  • Aged Care / Hotel/Restaurant experience preferred.
  • Effective time management, organisational skills, and budget management.
  • Previous experience in leading a team and managing a budget.
  • Understanding of Food Audits.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service focus.
