About the Role

Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) is seeking a talented Senior Associate to join our Government-Owned Corporations (GOC) Research & Delivery Team for Advisory Division in Brisbane.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply subject matter expertise in energy intensive industrial processes to investigate the role of load flexibility from future potential electricity intensive industries in decarbonizing Queensland's economy.
  • Contribute to energy market modeling, energy industry research and analysis, and financial and commercial advisory activities that support delivery of client and government policy outcomes.
  • Play a key role in delivering Energy team projects and contribute to projects across the Advisory Division, including projects led by the Energy team and the Sustainability team.
  • Deliver independent, innovative research, analytics and modeling focused on industrial decarbonization and use this to influence stakeholders through relevant channels.
  • Provide strategic, commercial and evidence-based advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding a wide variety of energy industry issues.
  • Take a lead role in self and team development, demonstrating progression of development and willingness to take on stretch opportunities.
About You
  • Bring Engineering R&D and/or engineering expertise with key energy intensive industrial processes.
  • Have a strong understanding and use of problem solving and analytical techniques, delivered with high attention to detail.
  • Identify issues, research and synthesise data to identify high value insights.
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. engineering, mathematics, science.
  • Have experience in energy intensive industrial processes including areas such as engineering R&D and/or engineering.
  • Have critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively diagnose situations and develop creative solutions.
  • Have excellent report writing, quantitative analysis and Power Point skills.
  • Familiarity with coding, particularly Python, R, market modeling (e.g., PLEXOS or similar tools) is desirable.
