About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Maribyrnong Libraries to join our team as a Library Officer. This role will work Fridays and Saturdays at the West Footscray branch. The successful candidate will be confident and enthusiastic with a demonstrated ability in the delivery of engaging and effective customer service in a library environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide welcoming, knowledgeable customer, information and reader advisory in branches, online and across all services.
  • Undertake administrative tasks to support day-to-day operations including recording statistics, collection maintenance and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
  • Contribute to the identification of programs that respond to the needs of the community.
  • Deliver library programs as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated front facing customer service experience.
  • Experience in the delivery of high quality and engaging programs preferably within a public library or education environment.
  • Proven proficiency in the use of technology and online applications.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to engage effectively with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Victorian Certificate of Education or equivalent.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current Victorian Drivers licence.
  • A language other than English (spoken or Auslan) is highly desirable.
  • The position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment medical check.
  • No relevant criminal record found in a police check.
