Job Overview:

The Sterilisation Service Technician is a pivotal role in supporting the operational efficiency of Family Planning’s Day Surgery Unit and clinics. This position plays a crucial part in managing the processing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices for both units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the processing and sterilisation of reusable medical equipment
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support to Assistants in Nursing when working within the sterilisation service
  • Ensure access to sterile equipment at all times

Requirements:

  • Certificate II in Sterilisation Services
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a hospital Central Sterilisation Department
  • High-level knowledge and understanding of infection control principles
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of governing standards and guidelines related to reusable medical device processing
  • Leadership experience with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Computer skills to manage MS Excel
  • Team Leader Experience

Other Requirements:

  • A criminal record check and Working With Children Check are required prior to commencement in this role
