Strategic Director for Governance and Compliance

We are seeking a highly experienced Director to lead our Governance and Compliance team at the National Indigenous Australians Agency.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a small team to deliver key accountability mechanisms, including the NIAA Corporate Plan, Annual Report, and Agency Key Performance Measures and quality indicators.

This role requires a strategic leader who can provide high-level advice to the NIAA Executive and foster a culturally safe workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination of all case management for grant-related contractual compliance matters reported to the Integrity Group
  • Develop and deliver robust frameworks relevant to grant-related contractual compliance to support Government and NIAA services and initiatives
  • Ensure the development and delivery of Program Compliance and Fraud Branch grant-related contractual compliance training to staff
  • Monitor risk activities for area of responsibility, identifying strategic changes that may impact on risk management and mitigation activities

Requirements:

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Baseline Vetting (Protected) level security clearance or current security clearance of an appropriate level
  • A degree in a related field (e.g., law, accounting, business administration)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in the public sector
