Rehabilitation Medicine Trainee

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Rehabilitation Medicine Trainee. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in rehabilitation medicine and contribute to the care of patients within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

The successful applicant will work closely with supervising specialists to provide a consultative service to inpatients and non-inpatients, assist in the development and implementation of goal-oriented rehabilitation plans, and coordinate rehabilitation treatment at facilities within the Rehabilitation Networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gaining experience in general principles of Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Performing comprehensive rehabilitation assessments and care of patients referred to the Department of Rehabilitation
  • Developing and implementing goal-oriented rehabilitation plans
  • Coordinating rehabilitation treatment at facilities within the Rehabilitation Networks

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • At least 3 years postgraduate medical experience
  • Demonstrated experience and interest in Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgment, and expertise
  • Demonstrated teamwork within a multi-disciplinary team, time management and problem-solving skills in a complex clinical environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Preparedness and ability to work independently in a supervised environment
  • Demonstrated interest and willingness to teach Junior Medics

Location:

The successful applicant will be working across various locations within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, including Port Kembla Hospital, Wollongong Hospital, Coledale Hospital, and Shoalhaven Hospital.
