About Us

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Power and Greens Trading team as a Forward Trader. In this role, you will be responsible for managing trading activities in risk management, market access, asset management, green solutions, and energy supply businesses.

The successful candidate will have expertise in power generation, Australian power/gas wholesale markets, emissions, and environmental products fundamentals and markets. They will also possess experience in developing, negotiating, and managing structured contracts associated with merchant exposures such as gas, power, emissions, and environmental products.

This is a challenging role that requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and communicate effectively. If you have a passion for trading and a keen understanding of the energy market, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Ongoing management of complex illiquid market risk, including power, emissions, and other environmental products.
  • Supporting the Commercial team in the development of a third-party risk management and assets management franchise.
  • Leading the trading activity for Greens and Certificates, while also managing Power books as a secondary activity.
  • Monitoring relevant commodity markets and assessing implications for trading and portfolio books.
  • Contributing to the effective development and implementation of trading and commercial strategies, and management of commodity market risk exposures within relevant limits.
  • Collaborating with Risk, Analytics, IT, and the Structuring desk to develop and improve models and pricing methodologies.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of power generation, Australian power/gas wholesale markets, emissions, and environmental products fundamentals and markets.
  • Experience in developing, negotiating, and managing structured contracts associated with merchant exposures such as gas, power, emissions, and environmental products.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and communicate effectively.
