
Strategic Labour and Industrial Relations Specialist

We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in Labour and Industrial Relations to lead and deliver strategic labour and industrial relations initiatives in compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009 and recent reforms.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing enterprise bargaining agreements (EBAs), including negotiation strategy, stakeholder engagement, and dispute resolution. They will also build and maintain strong relationships with trade unions, regulators, and internal stakeholders to foster cooperative industrial relations.
In addition, they will provide expert interpretation of modern awards, employment contracts, and HR policies, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation. They will advise and support management in performance management, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations, with a focus on psychosocial safety.
This role requires a high level of expertise in Australian employment law, labour relations, and HR compliance. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering strategic HR initiatives and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage EBAs, including negotiation strategy, stakeholder engagement, and dispute resolution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trade unions, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide expert interpretation of modern awards, employment contracts, and HR policies.
- Advise and support management in performance management, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
- Drive organisational change initiatives, including restructuring, talent development, and succession planning.
- Couch and mentor line managers on effective people management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Australian labour relations, including enterprise bargaining and dispute resolution.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian employment law, including recent updates to wage theft legislation and flexible work rights.
- Proven experience in organisational design, talent management, and HR compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels.
