The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan to lead the entire sourcing process, ensuring high-quality supplier advocacy, and driving sustainability initiatives.

This senior position involves building and maintaining strong relationships with livestock producers and processors, requiring a deep understanding of the domestic and global meat industry. The General Manager will handle all procurement activities, including price negotiation and contract management, while making strategic decisions to balance costs, quality, and supply chain efficiency.

A key part of the job is to develop stronger systems and processes to support consistency in sourcing approaches, provide constructive feedback to suppliers, and maintain integrity in sourcing steps.

Internally, the General Manager will be responsible for leading and developing a broad sourcing team, fostering a positive and collaborative culture. This includes working closely with other divisions to ensure the sourcing strategy aligns with overall business objectives and continuously improves the quality of the meat delivered to retail customers.

Key Requirements

As an expert in meat standards leadership, you possess a deep understanding of the entire agricultural value chain, ensuring a seamless flow of products from farm to market. You have a track record of balancing cost and quality when sourcing commodity products and navigating the complexities of the trading environment.

Strong sourcing and procurement capabilities are essential, along with a robust risk management approach. This involves proactively mitigating issues such as disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and price fluctuations, while maintaining a focus on food safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical labour practices.

You are a champion for sustainability, balancing economic goals with animal welfare and environmental responsibility. Strategic planning and stakeholder engagement drive meaningful change, enhancing profitability and customer value while maintaining competitive advantage.
