Business Financial Specialist

About the Role:

This position is designed for those seeking to utilize their financial management expertise in a large public health organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with senior management and department heads to provide strategic financial guidance, including performance reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and funding assessments.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify and address financial management issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare timely and insightful divisional performance reports, highlighting key financial trends and areas of focus.
  • Participate in regular review meetings with senior management and department heads to discuss financial performance and goals.
  • Support the integrity of financial records by preparing or reviewing journals, accruals, and ledger reviews.
  • Coordinate tasks related to the divisional budget cycle, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain accurate divisional forecasts, identifying potential differences from annual budget targets and recommending adjustments.
  • Maintain oversight of divisional funding arrangements, including activity-based funding and service contract obligations.
  • Ensure sustainable resource allocation planning at the divisional level, aligning with available funding sources and organizational priorities.
  • Review contractual agreements and grant proposals to assess financial implications, risks, and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate contracts and grant proposals to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, financial policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support the planning and reporting of facility/corporate/Ministry capital investments.
  • Identify and communicate potential financial risks, opportunities, and requirements associated with contracts and grants to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with procurement, project managers, and program coordinators to negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to drive continuous financial optimization.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, consultation, and change management skills.

  • Experience in business partnering in a large organization.

  • Highly developed presentation and report writing skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders through understanding of their needs and objectives.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and commitments and anticipate problems and identify solutions.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience leveraging ERP systems.
  • Ability to use reporting tools such as TM1 and PowerBI to draw insights and drive decisions.
