About the Opportunity
Berry Street is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the Lead Tenant role, a live-in, voluntary mentor position for 1-2 young people in the Northern Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Model a share/house mate model and assist young people in learning to negotiate shared living spaces, chores, and responsibilities.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating independent living skills such as cooking, household shopping, cleaning, and gardening.
- Establish and maintain appropriate boundaries and rapport with young people, providing honest feedback to Berry Street staff.
- Manage the day-to-day running of the household, including meal planning, grocery shopping, and household maintenance.
- Actively participate in meetings, discussions, and planning to address the needs of the young people.
- Invest time and emotional energy to develop a relationship with a young person, fostering mutually supportive relationships.
