Aviation Inspector - OCONUS Townsville, Australia

Aircraft inspectors are responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of aircraft maintenance, repairs, and modifications. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and technical publications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and evaluate complex aircraft mechanical and electromechanical systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform receiving, in-process, final quality, flight safety inspections, and functional operational tests to verify that aircraft meet safety standards.
  • Approve or reject work accomplished by field team members to ensure that it meets customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Review and approve locally developed procedures and solutions to complex repair situations to ensure that they align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Monitor safety, training, and certification requirements to ensure that they are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of Quality, Safety, Training, and Certification activities.
Requirements:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and technical publications.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and operation of portable firefighting equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
  • Excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, and personnel management skills are required to effectively lead teams and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
  • Minimum five years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
  • At least one year experience inspecting MDS aircraft assigned.
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P).
  • Valid (current) FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Security Clearance appropriate to the level required for the work.
