Job Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist

The role involves providing assistance to cardiologists or cardiac surgeons in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. This includes measuring cardiovascular parameters, operating electronic instruments, and calculating hemodynamic data.

Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Expertise: Independently resolve complex patient management and physician issues.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as a role model to others by leading teams, cross-training, and providing education to the community.
  • Patient Care: Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, general safety, and radiation safety standards.
  • Education and Training: Actively participate in the orientation and training of new employees and students.
  • Complex Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in complex clinical skills, including IABP, stents, DCA, PTCA's, ablations, and pacemakers.
  • Anatomy and Physiology: Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac anatomy and physiology, correlating pressure waveforms and rhythm analysis.
  • Patient Assessment: Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring, and sterile technique.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist in maintaining effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas.
  • Committee Membership: Member of department or hospital committee with documented participation of 75%.
  • Customer Service: Respond appropriately and timely to patients, physicians, and other customers' needs.
  • Professional Development: Provides six (6) credit hours of in-service training per year.
Qualifications:
  • Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
  • Experience: Six months experience within an invasive cardiac catheterization laboratory that performs invasive cardiac catheterization and associated procedures.
  • Licensure: Must hold current registration as a CCI Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), CCI Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or ARRT RT(R) - preferably with a VI or CI category designation.
