Work Health and Safety Professional Role

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) professional plays a crucial role in ensuring the organisation's compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice at both state and federal levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the implementation of WHS strategies aligned with the organisation's goals and values.
  • Provide expert counsel to senior leaders on WHS best practice, risk, and other priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure WHS is embedded into strategic and operational planning.
  • Oversee and manage workers' compensation claims and early intervention processes.
  • Accountable for regular site audits and safety inspections to ensure facility compliance with WHS standards and building codes.
  • Lead the development, review, and implementation of WHS policies, procedures, systems, and frameworks across the organisation.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven strategic acumen and analytical skills to develop impactful WHS strategies and frameworks.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a WHS leadership role and previous enterprise responsibility.
  • Demonstrated understanding of WHS and Workers' Compensation legislation (state and federal).
  • Ability to analyse WHS data and performance metrics to inform strategic and operational improvements.
  • Strong experience in risk assessment, safety audits, and incident investigations.
