About the Role

The Senior Advisor, Indigenous Access and Engagement is a key position within the Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement at RMIT University. This role is responsible for leading the entry and admissions processes to support the access of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to RMIT.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the goals of the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Access and Engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community admissions into RMIT
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at RMIT
  • Collaborate with the Academic Registrars Group and other internal stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of Indigenous education and engagement initiatives
  • Provide advice and support to students, staff and the community on Indigenous education and engagement matters
  • Manage and maintain accurate records and reports related to Indigenous education and engagement
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an understanding of community needs
  • Experience advising and supporting students to pursue their educational aspirations and goals
  • Excellent administrative skills and ability to work autonomously
  • Experience in project management and ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Strong understanding of professional boundaries and ability to manage sensitive matters
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with staff, students and the community
Qualifications
  • A degree and/or postgraduate degree in a relevant field of education or a related field
  • Extensive relevant experience with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in an educational or similar environment
