Job Title: Risk Advisory and Control Lead

In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping our institution's risk management practices. As a Risk Advisory and Control Lead, you will collaborate with business units and leadership to embed robust risk frameworks that drive business outcomes while safeguarding customers and the organization.

The Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) division is responsible for managing relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors. Our team provides Economic Insights and Research to wholesale and retail investors, ensuring seamless data and platform services support various business units within IB&M. We also pioneer AI solutions to enhance our offerings.

Our CommBank IQ initiative offers privacy-treated data insights to institutional, government, and business banking clients, empowering informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely, pragmatic risk advice across operations, data, and technology platforms.
  • Identify and manage operational risks, issues, and incidents, including root cause analysis and control enhancements.
  • Lead the Risk & Compliance Self-Assessment process, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement effective controls for new and evolving business processes.
  • Support governance forums and deliver high-quality risk reporting, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure robust risk outcomes and issue remediation.
  • Champion the application of risk frameworks across IB&M, promoting a culture of risk-awareness.

To excel in this role, you will require experience in operational risk, governance, and compliance within financial services. Familiarity with AI, data products, or institutional banking is highly valued. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Ability to balance commercial objectives with sound risk management is crucial.
