The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Mortgage Credit Analyst / Underwriter to join our team, assisting with risk and credit-related functions such as responding to escalations, analysis, reporting, and supporting the Credit team.

This role requires someone with expertise in credit/underwriting, excellent communication skills, and a passion for speaking with customers. You will be responsible for reviewing bank statements and credit reports, managing daily workflow, acting as the primary point of escalation between sales and credit departments, and making high-quality recommendations to management on complex deals.

Responsibilities

  • Review bank statements and credit reports to assess creditworthiness
  • Manage daily workflow to ensure timely processing of loan applications
  • Act as the primary point of escalation between sales and credit departments to resolve customer queries and issues
  • Make high-quality recommendations to management on complex deals, taking into account credit risk and potential outcomes
  • Assist colleagues and less experienced staff through knowledge sharing and coaching
  • Handle all aspects of credit underwriting process within delegated lending authority

Requirements

  • 2-3 years' experience in residential mortgage underwriting/risk space
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to liaise confidently and empathetically with high-end customers
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve under pressure

Salary Information

Our estimated annual salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 AUD, depending on experience and qualifications.
