Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Speech Pathologist to join our Speech Pathology Department at Mackay Base Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in the development and delivery of our inpatient rehabilitation service.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide high-quality speech pathology services to patients in our inpatient rehabilitation unit, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders.
  2. Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote optimal patient outcomes.
  3. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures, ensuring best practice in speech pathology care.
  4. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based solutions.
  5. Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare staff on speech pathology-related topics.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  1. A Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent qualification.
  2. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  3. Experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings, preferably in a regional or rural area.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.
