Joining this team as Principal Electrical Engineer will allow you to coordinate and direct the Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation function across minerals processing and supporting site infrastructure projects in studies, design, and supporting project delivery both in Australia and globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Co-ordinating project electrical and instrumentation design activities to ensure product quality, safety and client requirements within budget constraints.
  • Supervising Design Engineers and Designer/Drafting staff to ensure compliance with technical and Sedgman standards and team satisfaction objectives.
  • Leading with integrity and accountability, performance managing, mentoring, coaching, training, recruiting and retaining fulfilled and high performing team members.
  • Selecting and managing external electrical and instrumentation consultants' performance.
  • Preparing budgets, time schedules and work resourcing for management approval and managing assigned projects for quality and change.
  • Participating in the development and continuous improvement of the quality management process and providing vision for Sedgman at the forefront of engineering innovation.
  • Supporting Project Development through concept setting and review processes, and communication with existing and potential clients.
  • Working closely with other Principal Engineers to ensure a united multidiscipline approach to providing engineering solutions and resolving complex problems.
  • Driving collaboration with business units and regional engineering groups ensuring consistent, quality and appropriate engineering outcomes.
  • Utilizing effective interpersonal skills to build successful working relationships.
  • Maintaining and expanding industry contacts.
  • Providing Safety Leadership for the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering team.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in design/consultancy environment in engineering capacity.
  • Metals and Minerals Processing industry experience.
  • Leadership and management experience in technical/project teams.
  • Heavy industry experience.
  • Strong technical foundation in Electrical and Instrumentation design, specification and procurement management including HV, LV, and ELV power distribution and motor control.
  • Understanding of key electrical engineering design activities including Hazardous Area, Functional Safety, Lightning Protection, Lighting and Power system studies.
  • Desirable qualifications include CPENG and/or RPEng accreditation, project management experience, MS Office suite skills and more.
