We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic academic to join our team as a sessional lecturer in the School of Medicine.
The role involves conducting teaching, tutorials, workshops and lectures to the standard of the faculty, preparing for topics and facilitating group discussions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct teaching, tutorials, workshops and lectures to the standard of the faculty.
- Prepare for topics and facilitate group discussions relating to the content.
- Consult with students in relation to learning and assessment.
- Participate in assessment activities, including marking and providing feedback.
- Attend meetings as required by the Course Coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Applicants should hold a medical degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia, plus at least one of the following: A College Fellowship or progress towards (e.g. FRACP, FRACGP, etc) and/or PhD in a field aligned with the research and teaching activities of the School.
- Clinical Skills: Hold a College Fellowship, a trainee position in a Fellowship Program or a PhD in a relevant area.
- Research Tutors: Hold a PhD in a STEM discipline.
- Experience in collaborative-based learning environments is highly desirable.
- Skilled at facilitating small groups, discussions and evoking thoughts and questions from others.
- A high level of interest in medical education and experience in teaching in a health context is essential.
- A keen interest in maintaining currency in scholarship and professional practice in the relevant discipline is required.
- Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes including online delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively in a team.
