AOD Peer Worker Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced AOD peer worker to join our team. As an AOD peer worker, you will play a vital role in supporting residents in our AOD withdrawal program by sharing your lived experience of treatment and recovery from substance use.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of others while also continuing your own journey of recovery. You will be working with a skilled, multidiscipline team that provides a full suite of AOD treatments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver program material from the perspective of a peer with a successful treatment experience.
  • Provide support and encouragement to residents, as well as those on the waitlist, preadmission group, and aftercare clients.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by promoting integrity and professionalism.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Lived alcohol and drug experience, preferably with participation in treatment at an accredited Therapeutic Community.
  • A minimum of 2 years successfully engaged in work, volunteering or study after graduating from an AOD residential program or similar treatment service.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening skills and clear speaking skills.
  • Ability to maintain clear boundaries and engage in self-reflection.
  • Ideal qualifications include a Diploma in AOD and Mental Health or willingness to complete AOD Skillset whilst in employment.
