Electrical Lead Technician Role Overview

The Electrical Lead Technician is a pivotal position encompassing leadership, supervision, and technical expertise.

You will serve as the Lead Service Technician, State Nominated Electrical Supervisor, and Delegate to the High Voltage Operating Authority. This role involves regular interaction with the Site Service Manager, Site Team, Customers, Internal Technical Teams, other Wind Farms, Contractors, and the Local Community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide and manage site activities, leading technicians and third-party contractors in daily operations. Coordinate maintenance schedules and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Hold the Site Electrical Contractors License Nominee role, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and codes. Execute high voltage switching operations and carry out maintenance, installations, and repairs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, share lessons learned, and lead training sessions for technicians and contractors.
  • Ensure accurate completion and filing of documentation related to electrical work and HV switching. Maintain reports using management tools.
  • Uphold safety policies, conduct inspections, and perform fault finding on assets. Form part of an on-call roster for weekend and night work as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as an unrestricted A-grade electrician, with at least 5 years in a wind farm environment.
  • Qualified as an electrical nominee/technical supervisor under relevant legislation.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical circuits and proficiency in troubleshooting and circuit analysis.
  • Proven track record in promoting a safety culture and experience in high voltage switching operations.
  • Customer service skills and team leadership experience in the wind industry or large-scale industrial environments.
  • Intermediate computer skills and ability to handle physically demanding tasks at heights.
  • Willingness to be on the weekend on-call roster and travel as required.
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license.
