Lead Electrician Specialist

The role of Electrical Lead Technician is pivotal, encompassing leadership, supervision, and technical expertise.

As a key member of the team, your expertise will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of cutting-edge renewable energy technology.

Working across different time zones, monitoring, reading and responding to contacts outside normal working hours can be expected.

• Lead site activities, guiding and managing site technicians and third-party contractors in daily operations. Coordinate maintenance schedules and delegate tasks effectively.
• Hold the Site Electrical Contractors License Nominee role, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and codes. Execute high voltage switching operations and carry out maintenance, installations, and repairs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, share lessons learned, and lead training sessions for technicians and contractors.
• Ensure accurate completion and filing of documentation related to electrical work and HV switching. Maintain reports using software management tools.
• Uphold safety policies, conduct inspections, and perform fault finding on assets. Form part of an on-call roster for weekend and night work as needed.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as an unrestricted A-grade electrician, with at least 5 years in a wind farm environment.
• Qualified as an electrical nominee/technical supervisor under relevant legislation.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical circuits and proficiency in troubleshooting and circuit analysis.
• Proven track record in promoting a safety culture and experience in high voltage switching operations.
• Customer service skills and team leadership experience in the wind industry or large-scale industrial environments.
• Intermediate computer skills and ability to handle physically demanding tasks at heights.
• Willingness to be on the weekend on-call roster and travel as required.
• Valid unrestricted driver's license.

• Nationally recognized High Voltage Operator Certificate.
• Leadership or Supervisor Training.
• Prior experience as an electrical supervisor with high voltage switching expertise.
• HRWL including Dogging, Rigging (Advanced), Forklift, EWP.
• CSE and GWO Basic & Advanced Rescue Training.

This position involves regular interaction with the Site Service Manager, Site Team, Customers, Internal Technical Teams, other GE Onshore Wind Farms, Contractors, and the Local Community.
