About the Role:

RWE Renewables Australia Pty. Ltd. is developing a multi-gigawatt offshore wind portfolio in Australia and seeking a Senior Consent Manager to join the team.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of supervising and delivering environmental impact assessments (EIA) and other permits and consents for infrastructure projects in Australia, particularly offshore wind, renewables, or offshore projects.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the delivery of consents for RWE's initial project in Gippsland, building consents teams for projects, and managing consent team personnel on a day-to-day basis.

The role requires collaboration with the country leadership team to contribute to the consenting strategy and coordinate with other consents teams in the APAC region to share lessons learned.

Responsibilities at a Project Level:

  • Lead and manage all project consenting activities, ensuring smooth interfaces with other core project staff and project teams.
  • Set and coordinate consenting budgets across all projects under development, construction, and operation phases.
  • Maintain a high standard of environmental protection and sustainability throughout the development cycle.

HSE, Stakeholder Management, and Governance:

Promote and maintain high HSE standards, especially in environmental survey work. Engage with Federal and State governments, regulatory bodies, business partners, and industry associations, providing advice on planning, permitting, and consenting for offshore wind.

Represent RWE in engagement with First Nations/Traditional Owners and local communities where necessary.

Assist in creating a highly-effective local offshore wind development, construction management, and operations organisation according to RWE policies and procedures.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in capital/infrastructure projects, 2+ years in permitting and environmental compliance for renewable energy projects in Australia.
  • Significant technical knowledge of Australian Federal and State permitting processes and regulations relating to energy projects.
  • Effective organisation and project management skills, including complex project management with multiple stakeholders.

Salary: Estimated AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
