About the Role:

We are seeking experienced mental health professionals to join our multidisciplinary teams at a major hospital in Queensland.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for managing patients with complex mental health treatment needs and providing clinical leadership within your team. You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement high-quality patient care plans.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in direct delivery of inpatient and outpatient mental health services, as well as a proven ability to lead and function within a multidisciplinary team. You will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with non-mental health medical practitioners and community service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage patients with complex mental health treatment needs and/or in situations of high clinical risk
  • Lead and function within a multidisciplinary mental health clinical team
  • Work collaboratively with consultant psychiatrist colleagues to facilitate smooth clinical and operational service functioning
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with non-mental health medical practitioners and community service providers
  • Provide clinical teaching to junior medical staff, medical students, and other mental health clinicians

Requirements:

  • Registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia (or eligible for registration)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent overseas qualification
