Professional Dog Training Role

We are seeking a skilled dog trainer to join our team on a casual basis.

The successful applicant will work as part of a collaborative unit to train dogs of all ages and stages of training, assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging and innovative dog training sessions based on positive reinforcement methods.

Sessions are conducted in both group and individual contexts, and the role involves maintaining detailed records of each individual dog's progress.

The applicant will have the opportunity to extend their skills and develop their understanding of specific training techniques, protocols, and practices used for therapy dogs.

Support and supervision will be provided to enhance the applicant's theoretical knowledge and extend their practical skills to ensure best practice.

  • Strong work ethic

  • Current police check and working with children's check
  • Proof of dog training qualification
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact with people of all ages
  • Willingness to learn and complete additional training as required
  • Flexibility and preparedness to help with various tasks
  • Patience and empathy when supporting individuals
  • Compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, including COVID protocols

Selection criteria include a statement outlining personal philosophy in relation to dog training, describing how to engage and motivate a dog, and operating effectively within a team environment.
