Support Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Practitioner to join our team at Churches of Christ in Queensland. As a key member of our Child Protection team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Placement: Conduct thorough assessments of prospective foster families to ensure they meet the necessary criteria for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children.
- Family Support and Guidance: Provide ongoing support and guidance to foster families, including developing support plans, education, and training to help them navigate the complexities of caring for children with complex needs.
- Placement Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor and evaluate placements to ensure the child's needs are being met and make adjustments as necessary.
- Support to Foster and Kinship Carers: Provide support to foster and kinship carers, including developing support plans, education, and training to help them navigate the complexities of caring for children with complex needs.
- Placement Transition Support: Provide ongoing support to children and young people during transitions between placements, including developing transition plans and providing emotional support.
- Recruitment and Training of Foster Carers: Develop and implement strategies to recruit and train foster carers, including carer training and support.
- Occasional Work Outside of Hours: Be available to work outside of regular hours to meet the needs of service users.
- Qualifications: A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in child protection and out-of-home care, including assessment and placement, family support, and placement monitoring and evaluation.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders. Comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and the ability to promote a culture of compliance.
