About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our team at Save the Children Australia. As a key member of our Child Welfare team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality services to vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of child-centered case management plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to colleagues to enhance their skills and competencies in delivering high-quality services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, program partners, and other organizations, to ensure effective collaboration and coordination.
  • Coordinate staff caseloads, program logistics, monitoring and evaluation, risk management, and child protection to ensure the smooth operation of our services.
  • Maintain a caseload of clients and provide direct support to them as needed.
Requirements
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a team, as well as work effectively in a team.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, understanding, and experience working with culturally diverse young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, young people disengaged with the school system, and young people in contact with the justice system.
  • Demonstrated experience in using trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to build relationships, liaise, and plan with program stakeholders and community members.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in report writing.
  • Proven ability to anticipate and resolve problems.
  • Leadership, while this position has no direct reports, as part of your role, working with the Team Leader.
