Our operations extend beyond simple waste collection; we are involved in converting waste into renewable energy, diverting food waste from landfills for composting, manufacturing specialized waste management equipment, conducting asbestos removal, refining and recycling oil, and maintaining our fleet with in-house services and custom technology systems.

Our workforce encompasses various roles including Drivers/Operators, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Customer Service Representatives, Operations Staff, Finance Experts, IT/Digital Specialists, Environmental Scientists, Engineers, Industrial Chemists, Safety Officers, and Administrative Personnel.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a proactive and motivated Operations Supervisor to oversee our Cairns Depot, guiding our team of waste collection professionals to meet daily operational objectives.

This role is hands-on, requiring regular interaction with our driving teams to ensure safety, productivity, and adherence to processes.

You will operate a modern and reliable fleet, which is serviced and maintained in our on-site workshops.

As part of an essential services sector, we provide stability for our employees and dependability for our clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team of over 20 operational staff in Cairns.
  • Support the Contracts Manager with daily operations.
  • Participate in driving and collection duties as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and team members.
  • Mentor, train, and assess your team regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and safety standards, including return-to-work processes.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and propose solutions.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Possession of a current HR (Heavy Rigid) Licence.
  • Experience in transport, logistics, or service industries is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective time management abilities.
  • Goal-oriented with the capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to provide current QLD Roads Driving Records during the interview.
  • Must pass a pre-employment medical, drug, and alcohol screening.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Significant hands-on experience in an operations-focused role.
  • Proven track record in fostering continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with heavy vehicle operations and general truck maintenance.
