Electrical Maintenance Professional

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Professional to join our team at Rio Tinto's Weipa Operations in Far North Queensland. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to take on a key role in maintaining the electrical infrastructure of our bauxite mines, processing facilities, and associated assets.
About the RoleThis fixed-term position will involve working as part of a close-knit team to ensure the reliable operation of our electrical systems. You will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, attending breakdowns, and implementing improvements to our electrical infrastructure. Your expertise will be invaluable in identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring that our operations run safely and efficiently.
You will be based at one of our three sites: East Weipa, Andoom, or Amrun. Depending on your location, you may have the option to stay at our newly built camp during shift and commute back to Weipa on days off, with an additional allowance to compensate for time away from home.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out preventative maintenance on high and low voltage electrical infrastructure and equipment across the Andoom, Weipa, and Amrun sites.
- Carry out statutory electrical checks on site and town-based low voltage electrical infrastructure, including cathodic protection systems, airfield lighting, switchboards, equipment, and town distribution networks.
- Fault find and maintain electrical equipment during breakdown situations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to high standards of safety and eliminate critical risks.
- A commitment to safety and a strong focus on eliminating critical risks.
- A manual C-class driver's license.
- A trade qualification – Queensland Electrical Trades Licence (or equivalent) with the ability to acquire the Queensland licence.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- The ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
- A sense of ownership of the equipment and a mindset of continual improvement.
- Experience with SAP or similar work management system.
- A competitive base salary of $120,000 per annum, reflective of your skills and experience, with annual incentive program.
