Therapist Position - Family Support Specialist

This is a permanent part-time opportunity working 3 days/ week (21 hours) and will be based at Uniting Counselling and Mediation in Gosford.
- MUST be able to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The main focus of this role is to provide individual therapy, family therapy and group-based support to children and young people impacted by domestic violence. The Therapist will work collaboratively with parents to help strengthen the parent-child relationship and reduce the chronic stress and trauma symptoms children are experiencing post-separation.

About This Opportunity
  • Deliver long-term therapy for children and young people impacted by DFV, utilising evidence-based approaches such as trauma-focused CBT.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group programs for children, young people, and parents, promoting resilience and healthy relationships.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team through regular case discussions, team meetings, and professional development.
  • Client-facing work per day, with time dedicated to supervision, documentation, and training.
Your Background
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or related field.
  • Experience working therapeutically with children, young people (0–18), and/or parents, preferably in a context involving trauma and high-conflict dynamics.
  • Eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body.
