Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Fellow – Critical Metals

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Fellow to join our team at Swinburne University in a critical metals research role. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with researchers from Swinburne University and CSIRO, as well as industry partners, to develop innovative solutions for sustainable mineral processing and green steel production.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct independent research projects within a broader team environment, identifying complementary expertise and initiating appropriate collaborations.
- Design and conduct high-temperature experiments, analyzing the state of areas of technology from publications and patents.
- Collaborate with researchers to develop and implement metallothermic reduction processes for extracting critical metals from ores or secondary resources without carbon emissions.
- Contribute to the development of new technologies and processes for sustainable mineral processing and green steel production.
- Doctoral qualification (or research experience) in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related areas.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamic/kinetics modelling and hands-on experience with thermodynamic/thermochemical packages.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
