Medtech Innovation Scientist-Engineer

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Medtech innovation scientist-engineer to join our dynamic team as a business development leader.
As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will be responsible for leading medtech R&D projects across various domains and geographies. Your expertise in project management, science, and engineering will enable you to develop and manage project plans, budgets, and deliverables. Additionally, you will support business consulting and client relationship-building as part of project delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading medtech R&D projects with diverse teams, leveraging your strong project management and organizational skills.
- Developing and managing project plans, ensuring successful project execution and delivery.
- Collaborating with clients and international partners to build trust and foster positive relationships.
- Translating technical complexity into clear, actionable updates for clients, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must-haves for this role include:
- 2–5 years of industry experience in R&D, engineering consulting, product development, or medtech/related fields.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, enabling effective team collaboration and timely project delivery.
- Basic soldering and electronics prototyping skills, allowing for hands-on experimentation and problem-solving.
- Experience with chemistry handling and laboratory safety, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, facilitating clear communication with clients and colleagues.
Desirable skills and attributes include:
- Master's or PhD in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or related disciplines, providing a solid foundation for scientific inquiry and experimentation.
- Recent PhD graduates with consulting or industry experience are encouraged to apply, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
- Startup experience or the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, enabling adaptability and resilience in the face of challenges.
- Exposure to medical devices, biosensors, or Class II/III implantable technologies, enhancing your understanding of the medtech landscape.
- Knowledge of ISO13485 and medtech regulatory pathways, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- CAD design experience, such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360, enabling you to create detailed designs and models.
- A hands-on maker/DIY mindset, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills through experimentation and prototyping.

Requirements:
This role is based in Perth, Western Australia, and requires regular in-person work. Remote work is not available, and relocation assistance will not be provided. Applicants must have unrestricted work rights in Australia, as visa sponsorship is not available. A current Australian driver's license is required for travel to client sites, laboratories, and subcontractors.
