The HeartWorks program is a community-led employment model that offers tailored mentoring and training to support individuals in gaining meaningful and sustainable employment. The program is built on relationships, dignity, and practical support, directly connecting participants with employers who share the values of inclusion, compassion, and social justice.

This full-time opportunity is a maternity leave backfill, with potential to extend or evolve depending on program needs and the successful candidate's capability. As an Employment Mentor, you will work across the full employment lifecycle, identifying participant goals and barriers, facilitating job-readiness training, supporting employers in creating the right environment for success, and providing regular post-placement follow-up.

The role includes:

  • Delivering one-on-one and group training to build job readiness
  • Supporting participants to overcome practical barriers such as transport, documentation, and confidence
  • Building and maintaining relationships with referral partners and support services
  • Actively identifying and engaging with employers across a variety of industries
  • Ensuring alignment between employer needs and participant capacity, and supporting both throughout the placement
  • Providing post-placement mentoring, regular check-ins, and issue resolution
  • Monitoring outcomes and contributing to reporting and ongoing program development

This is a varied, hands-on role that requires strong time management, initiative, and follow-through. You'll work across Murarrie, South Brisbane, and the Gold Coast, regularly engaging with participants, employers, and community partners. While no two days will look the same, you'll have clear expectations and structured goals, with regular support from your manager to help you stay on track and deliver meaningful outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you must possess a professional, participant-focused approach, balance empathy with accountability, communicate clearly and respectfully with both participants and employers, take ownership of your responsibilities and drive outcomes, and spot opportunities and follow them through.

A current driver's license and willingness to travel across sites are essential. A valid Working with Children Check and a recent police check will also be required.
